The Bluebell Café in Langport, Somerset is buzzing with new energy! Under new management, this beloved spot is transforming into more than just a café – it’s becoming a vibrant community hub, adapting dynamically to today’s climate.
Gone are the days of just coffee and cakes. The Bluebell now offers popular Sunday Lunches and hosts sell-out evening events like Steak Nights, Curry Nights, and a delightful Pudding Club. Demand is high, so remember to book ahead!
Adding to the excitement, The Bluebell has recently secured an alcohol license, paving the way for even more engaging events, including future cocktail evenings. And that’s just the start – more exciting changes are on the horizon!

New Manager Daniel Bolster shares his enthusiasm: “What we have already achieved at The Bluebell is very impressive. We have built a team of highly skilled hospitality professionals and their efforts and knowledge are shining right now. The business is busier, but more importantly, we are able to help the community and local groups more than ever before.”
Daniel highlights the rapid transformation: “The menus, layout, and kitchen have all had a drastic change in the last couple months and the customers have responded in a hugely positive way.” He’s confident in the culinary direction, noting, “The new Chef has 25 years experience working all around Somerset and Devon in some of the biggest hotels and is also a personal friend so I know the kitchen is in safe hands.”

The physical space is also getting a fresh look, with “new outside furniture and the awaited arrival of a permanent outside marquee with heating and lights.” Inside, “new acoustic panelling to bring the noise levels down and also lots of new greenery give the business a fresh new feel. It’s a really exciting time for the business and I’m glad to be involved.”
Another key new team member is Samantha Westlake, dubbed the “fundraising goddess.” Samantha coordinates all the groups, activities, and fundraising events held at or for the café, including popular initiatives like the recent Paint and Prosecco evening.
This revitalisation isn’t just great for customers; it’s fantastic news for the local community! The Bluebell is a non-profit business raising money for the amazing ESS Education and Support Services, which is a charitable Incorporated Organisation based in Langport, operating throughout Somerset and extending into the wider South West Region. The café itself provides hands-on cooking and service training for students, while a building opposite offers skills like carpentry, hairdressing and so much more.
Chef Adele, one of The Bluebell’s longest-standing staff members, proudly reflects on the journey: “Being one of the longest staff members currently working for The Bluebell as a chef, I have seen it grow in so many ways. I am so very proud of how far The Bluebell has come and achieved since the new management has taken over. With so many exciting prospects and adventures and our new menu arriving! I honestly couldn’t be more proud of the team and all our hard accomplishments and growth.”
