Local duo take the helm at Cantina, Porthleven

Cantina, one of Cornwall’s most vibrant dining spots, is entering a new chapter this autumn as two familiar local faces take over the running of the restaurant.

The much-loved venue will now be managed by Natalia Grabek and Spencer Hawes, two long-time Porthleven residents who bring a fresh energy and a deep connection to the local community.

The original owners will be focusing on their other projects, handing over a thriving restaurant that’s become known for its relaxed coastal atmosphere and globally inspired flavours. Under the new management, Natalia and Spencer plan to build on Cantina’s strong foundations while fine-tuning the menus to celebrate a Latin American and North American influence – a natural evolution for a restaurant known for its warmth, vibrancy, and love of flavour.

“Porthleven has such a unique energy – it’s creative, community-driven, and full of people who love good food and good company,” says Natalia Grabek, who is currently Cantina’s General Manager. “It’s a privilege to take the reins of a place that means so much to locals and visitors alike. We’re looking forward to putting our own stamp on it while keeping everything people already love about Cantina.”

As General Manager, Natalia has become a familiar face to regulars. With a lifelong career in hospitality, she combines professionalism with genuine warmth.

She’ll be joined by Spencer Hawes, a well-known local musician and advocate for live performance spaces, whose background spans from Glastonbury Festival stages to grassroots venues. Spencer will be helping to shape Cantina’s evolving event and live music offering, aiming to make it not just a great place to eat, but a community hub celebrating creativity, food, and connection.

“We want Cantina to not just be about what’s on stage or on the plate, but to evolve, create a welcoming space where good food, music and community come together, because it’s the people who make Porthleven what it is,” says Spencer.

Cantina will continue to open five days a week, with menu updates and event news announced over the coming months.

For now, guests can expect the same friendly team, the same harbourside views – and a few exciting new flavours on the way – To find out more and to stay up to date with their events follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
