Origin Coffee secures major double win at global coffee awards

Specialty coffee roaster Origin Coffee has achieved two significant industry accolades, recognised as the Most Sustainable Brand at the European Coffee & Hospitality Awards and crowned UK National Winner at the Perfect Daily Grind Global Coffee Awards.

Tom Sobey – Founder

At the prestigious Allegra European Coffee Symposium, hosted in Berlin and attended by over 600 industry peers, Origin Coffee received recognition for leading the way in responsible, impact-driven coffee, as the Most Sustainable Brand.

On the achievement, Founder Tom Sobey comments, “We’re feeling genuinely grateful for recognition showing quality and sustainability can go hand in hand. This one means a lot and is a true testament to all the amazing work we do, led by Sustainability Manager Sarah Walker and the team. We are relentless in our pursuit of reducing the impact of our coffee, and this recognition speaks to the incredible efforts of our entire team, who work hard to push the boundaries of what’s possible. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.”

At the Global Coffee Awards Europe hosted in Bordeaux, an independent judging panel blind-tasted coffees from leading roasteries across Europe. Origin Coffee was awarded Overall Regional Winner for Europe and the UK, earning an exceptional result comprising two golds, seven silvers, two finalist positions, and one honourable mention.

Recognised coffees included long-stay favourites Resolute, Pathfinder, and Atlas, alongside standout features and special-edition lots La Huella Natural and Camino Lot 25.

Director of Coffee, Freda Yuan notes, “Sustainability is not just about the planet. Sustainability is about people, the people we work with, the coffee producers that we buy coffee from. I’d like to thank them for giving us this opportunity to be the most sustainable brand in Europe.”

Sustainability Manager Sarah Walker Msc said, “It’s truly rewarding to have our years of effort dedicated to reducing social and environmental impact recognised. This award is a reminder that, as business leaders, we cannot wait for instructions. We must lead by example, showing the world that change is possible and that we are committed to building a fair and just future.”

As the UK’s longest-standing independent coffee roasters, these wins highlight the dedication of Origin’s entire team – from direct sourcing to sustainability, and barista craft. Origin Coffee continues to build its reputation on quality, honesty, and integrity, nurturing direct relationships and championing approaches that reduce environmental impact while elevating flavour.
