Creative retreats, nature walks, poetry walks, a Book Butler and restorative stays on the Exe Estuary – Lympstone Manor launches ‘Quietcations’, a new programme of nature-led experiences and staycations at the Michelin-starred, Two Michelin Key country house hotel in Devon.
Created under the direction of Chef Owner Michael Caines MBE, the programme of Quietcations brings together watercolour painting workshops and poetry walks, guided nature experiences and time spent in accommodation designed to connect guests with their surroundings, from woodland Shepherd Huts to suites within the Manor named after the birds of the Exe Estuary.
As part of the experience, guests can utilise a new Book Butler service, ordering a book of their choice ahead of their stay. Ready and waiting in-room on arrival, it’s the perfect start to a weekend of reading and reflection.
A key element of the ‘Quietcations’ programme is a series of intimate, low-key experiences that bring guests closer to the landscape and to their own creativity. Highlights include, but are not limited to, a Winter Skies Watercolour Workshop and Lunch with local artist Rachel Toll on 10th February, focused on winter skies and changing light; a Sculpture and Poetry Walk and Lunch with Carol Peace on 24th March, combining art, words and a gentle guided walk through the grounds; a Spring Nature Walk and Lunch led by Countryside Manager James Chubb on 14th April, one of the UK’s most important bird habitats where mudflats teems with feeding flocks; a Dusk Nature Walk and Dinner with James Chubb on 15th September for an atmospheric walk exploring the wildlife on the Exe estuary; and an Estuary Birds Watercolour Workshop and Lunch with Rachel Toll on 20th October, to paint and explore watercolour techniques inspired by Birds in Motion.
To launch the programme and embrace the season of change, Lympstone Manor is also offering a limited time only, Winter Reset offer with rooms at £299 with breakfast for two.
Situated within 28 acres on the tranquil foreshore of the Exe Estuary, Lympstone Manor offers a rare sense of space and seclusion. The Grade II listed Georgian manor house is surrounded by woodland, vineyard, gardens and historic walks, including the Lady’s Walk, created in the 1700s and winding around the boundary of the estate. The setting – encompassing river and tidal waters, saltmarshes, ponds and estuary views and Sculpture Park – is internationally recognised for its wildlife and birdlife, making it a natural home for quiet exploration and observation.
Accommodation is central to the sense of retreat. Guests can stay in one of the 21 individually designed rooms and suites within the Manor, including the Heron Suite with sweeping estuary views, separate living and sleeping areas and side-by-side bathtubs, or choose one of the six Shepherd Huts nestled within the woodland. Named after resident creatures – Otter Holt, Hare’s Rest, Hedgehog Row, Bee Hive and Fox Den – each hut offers privacy, warmth and comfort, with hand-painted artwork by Rachel Toll, outdoor bathtubs or wood-fired hot tubs, and fire pits for evenings spent toasting marshmallows beneath the trees. Designed to suit couples, families and dogs, the huts are immersed in nature.
Days unfold gently at Lympstone Manor. Guests can wander through the 17,500-vine vineyard and learn about the estate’s award-winning wines, enjoy the heated outdoor pool, play croquet or tennis, or simply sit and watch the light change over the estuary. Dining is led by Michael Caines’ Michelin-starred restaurant, celebrating the seasonal bounty of Devon and the Southwest, alongside the relaxed Pool House restaurant for casual, family & dog-friendly dining.
Rooted in sustainability and stewardship of the land, ‘Quietcations’ at Lympstone Manor reflect a long-standing commitment to the environment, from pollinator-friendly planting and beehives producing honey for guests, to the careful preservation of habitats across the estate.
The Winter Reset Sale is valid for stays from January – 31st March 2026 with savings up to 50% off.
