The Apple Tree Farm Shop at Brimsmore Gardens in Yeovil has been named Best Food Hall / Best Farm Shop in the Local Garden Centre Category at the Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) 60th annual conference. Part of The Gardens Group, The Apple Tree Farm Shop was presented with the award, which was sponsored by Fieldfare, on Monday 26 January at Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire.
Up against Farm Shops and Food Halls from all over the UK, The Apple Tree Farm Shop was commended for its commitment to local sourcing, with the majority of products coming from suppliers within a 25-mile radius, and its community mindedness, as well as for its sustainability initiatives, including food waste reduction, solar panels and eco-friendly packaging.
Brimsmore Gardens was also presented with a highly coveted trophy, after taking the top title in the Christmas Display Competition in Local Garden Centre Category during December, while Castle Gardens in Sherborne and Brimsmore Gardens in Yeovil took second and third place respectively for the Paul Cooling Environment and Sustainability Award.
In the Local Garden Centre Category, Brimsmore Gardens came second for Catering, the Ian Boardman Indoor Plants Cup and The Outdoor Living Award – Best Outdoor Living Retailer. In addition, Poundbury Gardens near Dorchester came third in the Local Garden Centre Category for the Ian Boardman Indoor Plants Cup and The Outdoor Living Award – Best Outdoor Living Retailer, meaning all three of The Gardens Group’s garden centres went home with a host of hard earned accolades.
