Bar Buoy has announced that its Margarita has become the company’s best selling cocktail, with more than 100,000 serves sold since launch. The milestone comes as National Margarita Day approaches on 22 February — a key date in the cocktail calendar for bars, restaurants and retailers.
The Devon-based craft cocktail producer says demand for its pre mixed Margarita continues to grow, particularly among venues looking for speed and consistency during busy trading periods. Created in January 2020 as a New Year’s resolution project by co-founder Tim Ball, the recipe was refined during lockdown and went on to earn three stars at the Great Taste Awards in 2021. It remains Bar Buoy’s most awarded and most sought after product.
Bar Buoy produces its small batch bottled Margaritas in-house in Devon, while the same liquid is sent to a co packer in Newton Abbot for canning — a setup designed to ensure consistency across both formats.
For hospitality operators, the company highlights several practical advantages of using a ready to serve cocktail, including:
- Faster service during peak times.
- Consistent quality in every pour.
- Reduced staff training needs.
- Lower ingredient waste.
- A flavour profile already recognised by industry awards.
“National Margarita Day is a brilliant opportunity for venues to drive cocktail sales,” says Tim Ball, Co-Founder of Bar Buoy. “Our Margarita gives operators a premium, reliable option that’s ready to pour — without compromising on quality.” Co-founder Ria Ball adds: “We know how busy hospitality teams are. This is about making it easy to serve an exceptional Margarita, quickly and consistently, while protecting margins.”
Available in both 1L multi serve bottles and cans, the Margarita can be served over ice with a salted rim, straight up in a coupe, or simply chilled and poured — giving venues flexibility to match their service style. With National Margarita Day falling on a weekend this year, operators may find even greater opportunity to capitalise on increased footfall.
