BUNSIK opens its biggest restaurant yet in Plymouth

BUNSIK, the UK’s No.1 Korean street food brand behind the viral Korean corndog craze, is set to open the doors to its first Devon restaurant on Friday 3 July, bringing its signature Korean corndogs, Korean fried chicken and Seoul-inspired street food to Plymouth city centre.

Located at 134 Armada Way, within Plymouth’s newly regenerated and pedestrianised city-centre quarter, the new site marks BUNSIK’s first opening in Devon and its 13th UK location, building on the success of recent openings in Bristol and Southampton.

Occupying a prominent site of approximately 2,000 sq ft, the restaurant will be the largest BUNSIK location to date, offering seating for around 45 guests across two levels, alongside takeaway and delivery.

To celebrate the opening, BUNSIK Plymouth will launch with a weekend of special offers, beginning on Friday 3 July with a free corndog giveaway for the first 100 customers and 50% off all corndogs throughout the day. The offers will return on Saturday 4 July, as BUNSIK joins the wider Armada Way Opening Party taking place across the city centre, before the launch celebrations continue on Sunday 5 July with 50% off Korean fried chicken.

The opening brings BUNSIK’s high-energy Korean street food experience to one of Plymouth’s busiest city centre locations, with an all-day menu designed to appeal to shoppers, workers, students and visitors looking for bold flavours, affordable dining and shareable dishes. Guests can expect the brand’s signature Korean corndogs, with mozzarella and chicken fillings, alongside tteokbokki, chewy rice cakes served in spicy gochujang sauce, kimbap, Korean fried chicken and cup bap rice bowls. Halal meat is used across the menu, with vegetarian options also available.

Since bursting onto the London food scene in 2021, BUNSIK has led the UK’s Korean corndog trend, sparking a nationwide craze and amassing millions of views across TikTok and Instagram. Its playful, high-impact dishes, most notably its signature molten cheese pulls, have become synonymous with the rise of K-culture in the UK, cementing BUNSIK as a go-to destination for Korean street food.

Behind the brand is founder Jae Cho, whose Maguro Group team brings close to two decades of experience operating Korean-led hospitality concepts across the UK. This depth of expertise underpins BUNSIK’s menu, delivering a vibrant, quality-driven take on Korean street food that extends well beyond trend-led formats.

Jae Cho, Founder of BUNSIK, said: “Everyone at BUNSIK is incredibly excited to be bringing the brand to Plymouth and opening our first restaurant in Devon. We have been looking for the right location in the city and Armada Way felt like the perfect fit. The transformation taking place in the city centre makes this a particularly exciting moment to join Plymouth’s food scene, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone through our doors.”

The Plymouth restaurant is operated by franchise partner ZK Group, which has an established presence on Armada Way through neighbouring CUPP Bubble Tea and German Doner Kebab. BUNSIK marks the group’s latest investment in the area.

Zubari Ali, Director of ZK Group, said: “Having already established two businesses on Armada Way, we have seen first-hand the strength and potential of this part of the city centre. BUNSIK brings a fresh and distinctive concept to our growing portfolio, and we believe it will resonate strongly with Plymouth’s residents, students, shoppers and visitors. We look forward to building on our commitment to the area and continuing to play an active role in the local community.”

The opening comes as Armada Way prepares to officially reopen on Saturday 4 July following a major regeneration programme that has transformed one of Plymouth’s most prominent city-centre routes into a vibrant public destination.

BUNSIK Plymouth opens at 134 Armada Way, Plymouth, on Friday 3 July.
