Shorebreak Hazy Pale Ale makes a splash on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen

Firebrand Brewing Co’s Shorebreak Alcohol-Free IPA received glowing praise on the latest episode of BBC Saturday Kitchen, with drinks expert Olly Smith and musician Ricky Wilson praising the beer for its exceptional flavour and character.

Featured as a perfect pairing for host Matt Tebbut’s fish and chips, renowned drinks expert ‘Jolly Olly’ Olly Smith showcased Shorebreak as a standout example of a quality alcohol-free beer.

Speaking on the show, Olly said: “I love it because it’s full of flavour. What you’re getting is a beer that’s packed with all of the joy and the tropical depth that you want, but without any of the booze at all. For me it’s all about balance, and lasting flavour is a good indication of a quality drink. This one fills your palate but also has that delightful lingering character.”

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson was equally impressed, saying “It’s absolutely beautiful, I love it” and describing Shorebreak as “Like a proper drink – big, refreshing, long, characterful” and agreeing with Olly that it was “lovely with a bit of fish and chips.”

Brewed in Launceston by independent Cornish producer, Firebrand Brewing Co., Shorebreak is a full-flavoured alcohol-free Hazy Pale Ale that delivers vibrant tropical fruit aromas, balanced bitterness and a satisfying finish. Winner of ‘Best Alcohol-Free Pale Ale’ at the 2025 World Beer Awards, Shorebreak is brewed with Simcoe, Citra and Cascade for a full, hoppy, tropical flavour, balanced by a super smooth, refreshing body. Shorebreak is gluten free, vegan friendly and only 32 calories per can.

Shorebreak’s appearance on one of the UK’s most popular food and drink programmes is another milestone for Firebrand, reflecting the increasing demand for premium alcohol-free beers and growing recognition of the brewery’s commitment to producing flavour-led yet approachable beers.

Founder and Head Brewer, Joe Thomson said, “We were delighted to see Shorebreak on BBC Saturday Kitchen – big thanks to Olly Smith for featuring our beer! It’s very special to hear such brilliant feedback from Ricky Wilson and all the guests on the show, including how well Shorebreak pairs with food. We created Shorebreak to deliver depth of flavour, balance and refreshment so to hear it described in that way on national television is incredibly rewarding.”

Shorebreak Alcohol-Free IPA is available from selected retailers, pubs and direct from Firebrand Brewing.
