Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines announced as Taste East Devon Festival Ambassador

Taste East Devon Festival is delighted to announce that renowned Michelin-starred chef and hotelier Michael Caines MBE has been appointed as the festival’s official Ambassador, strengthening its mission to champion one of the UK’s most exciting food and drink destinations.

A passionate advocate for Devon’s producers and seasonal ingredients, Michael has long been a leading figure in the region’s culinary scene through his work at Lympstone Manor. As Festival Ambassador, he will help raise the profile of Taste East Devon, inspiring visitors to discover the outstanding food, drink and hospitality experiences the area has to offer.

The announcement follows another successful festival in 2025, which welcomed hundreds of visitors to a packed nine-day programme of events hosted by some of East Devon’s best-loved chefs, farmers, vineyards, breweries, restaurants and artisan producers. From vineyard tours and foraging experiences to tasting menus, cider celebrations, family events and producer demonstrations, the festival showcased the quality, diversity and creativity of East Devon’s food and drink sector while encouraging visitors to explore the region and support local businesses.

Now preparing for its 2026 festival, Taste East Devon will once again celebrate the people behind the region’s exceptional produce. Taking place from 12–20 September 2026, the festival brings together growers, farmers, fishermen, chefs, brewers, winemakers, hospitality businesses and artisan food producers through a programme of unique experiences across East Devon. Visitors can enjoy behind-thescenes tours, exclusive dining events, tastings, workshops, markets and family-friendly activities, all celebrating local, seasonal food and drink. Lympstone Manor will be hosting two events as part of the festival – a vineyard tour and Pool House Restaurant lunch, and a dusk nature walk along the estuary with a talk by James Chubb, Local Countryside Manager, followed by dinner.

Michael Caines MBE said: “As we celebrate the sixth year of Taste East Devon, it is wonderful to see the festival continue to go from strength to strength, showcasing the exceptional food, drink and talent that make this region so special. At Lympstone Manor, we are proud to play our part in championing local producers, artisans and growers. This fes:val is a true celebration of East Devon’s rich culinary heritage, creativity and sense of community.”

Festival organisers welcomed Michael’s appointment, saying: “Michael has been a passionate supporter of Taste East Devon since its inception in 2020 and is one of the country’s most respected chefs. His commitment to local sourcing, sustainability and excellence perfectly reflects everything the festival stands for. We are thrilled to have him as our Ambassador as we continue to grow the festival and shine a spotlight on East Devon’s outstanding food and drink community.”

Since launching in 2020, Taste East Devon Festival has established itself as one of the South West’s leading food festivals, celebrating the area’s rich food heritage while supporting local businesses and promoting sustainable food tourism. The festival encourages visitors to experience the authentic flavours of East Devon by visiting the venues and producers across the region through the series of bespoke events.

The 2026 programme of events will be announced over the coming weeks, with opportunities for businesses across East Devon to get involved. Visitors are encouraged to book early for the paid events as tickets can be limited. All events and booking details are listed on the Taste East Devon website.
