Purton House Organics, Wiltshire

Tucked away in the Wiltshire countryside near Swindon, Purton House Organics is much more than a traditional farm shop. Having been in the family for more than 20 years, this organic farm has built an excellent reputation for producing high-quality, sustainably grown food, offering customers the opportunity to buy fresh, seasonal produce directly from the people who grow it. The owners have a deep affinity with the land, its produce and the animals that roam it.

The heart of the farm shop is its impressive selection of organic fruit and vegetables, much of which is harvested from the farm’s own fields and polytunnels. Depending on the season, shoppers can find everything from colourful beetroot, kale, chard, broad beans and fresh herbs to crisp cucumbers, mixed salad leaves, rhubarb and courgettes in various shades of green and yellow. Alongside homegrown produce, the shop also stocks a carefully selected range of organic fruit and vegetables sourced from trusted growers, ensuring customers can enjoy a wide variety throughout the year.

Beyond the fresh produce, the shelves are packed with locally sourced food from independent producers across Wiltshire and the surrounding counties. Visitors can browse artisan breads, free-range eggs, organic meat, award-winning cheeses, fresh milk, yoghurts, handmade cakes and biscuits, along with chutneys, jams, local honey, rapeseed oils and other pantry favourites. The farm also offers seasonal organic fruit and vegetable boxes, breakfast meat boxes and bespoke food boxes for customers wanting regular deliveries of fresh produce to their homes.

A visit to Purton House Organics is about more than shopping. The friendly atmosphere, knowledgeable staff and commitment to supporting local farmers and artisan producers make it a rewarding experience for anyone who values good food and sustainable farming. Whether you’re picking up ingredients for a family meal, searching for locally made treats or simply enjoying a coffee and homemade cake, the farm shop offers an authentic taste of Wiltshire’s thriving food community. During the festive season, the shop also showcases produce from more than 25 local suppliers, with hampers filled with cheeses, preserves, chocolates and other regional specialities and during the summer (usually the last weekend in July), the Festival on the Farm has become a favourite among the locals. This is 3 days of live music on two stages with food, drink and camping – the best of the countryside!
