Six nights, six curries, six corners of the globe as Lechlade restaurant goes on a Curry World Tour

Curry lovers in the Cotswolds are being invited to explore flavours from around the world this October, without leaving Lechlade.

Pan-Asian restaurant You Me and Umami, on the town’s High Street, is marking National Curry Week with a six-night celebration of curry, with owner Foyez Rahman and his team creating a different special each evening inspired by cuisines and culinary traditions from across the globe.

Running from Tuesday 6 to Sunday 11 October, the event will see a new curry unveiled every night, taking diners on a journey through different countries, cultures and styles of cooking.

While the restaurant already serves a range of Asian curries, including Thai Green Curry and Chicken Katsu Curry, the week-long event offers the kitchen team a chance to step beyond the regular menu and experiment with new ideas.

Foyez Rahman, owner of You Me and Umami, said: “Curry is one of those incredible dishes that can take you somewhere else. Every country, region and family has its own way of doing it, so we thought National Curry Week was the perfect excuse to have some fun and really explore that.

“We’re going to create a different curry every night, inspired by a different part of the world. Some will be familiar, some might be completely new to our customers, but they will all be about big flavours, great ingredients and giving people something different to try.”

The concept aligns with this year’s National Curry Week theme, which celebrates curry as a truly global food and encourages diners to discover how it has evolved across different cultures.

Each dish is being created specifically for the week, rather than added from the restaurant’s existing menu, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy something different every time they visit.

“If you come for the first night, Tuesday, you might discover one part of the world; come back later in the week and you could be somewhere completely different,” added Foyez. “We’re calling it our curry world tour – six nights, six curries and six opportunities to discover something new.”

You Me and Umami is a Pan-Asian restaurant and takeaway on Lechlade High Street, serving dishes inspired by cuisines from across Asia, including bao, gyoza, ramen, noodles and curries. The restaurant is open six days a week, closing on Mondays, making National Curry Week an ideal opportunity for the team to showcase a different curry on each of its six trading nights.

Full details of the individual curries will be revealed ahead of National Curry Week, which runs from 5 to 11 October 2026 so, for more information, visit You Me and Umami, High Street, Lechlade, call 01367 831318, email umamilechlade@gmail.com or visit the restaurant’s website.
