The Middlewick in Glastonbury is celebrating after being announced as a finalist in two categories at this year’s South West Tourism Awards: the International Tourism Award and Wellness & Spa Experience of the Year.
Set within 16 acres of Somerset countryside at the foot of Glastonbury Tor, The Middlewick has grown from its roots as a historic working farm into a unique destination combining holiday accommodation, retreats, wellness, food and experiences.
The International Tourism Award nomination recognises Middlewick’s work welcoming groups and visitors from around the world to Glastonbury. The destination regularly hosts retreats, wellbeing and spiritual groups, tours and other group stays, providing a complete experience that brings together accommodation, catering, group spaces and wellness facilities.

The Middlewick offers more than simply a place to stay. Its location provides an opportunity to experience the landscape, history and mythology of Glastonbury, with Glastonbury Tor just a short walk away and the wider Somerset region within easy reach.
The second finalist nomination, Wellness & Spa Experience of the Year, recognises The Middlewick’s Avalon Pass, a two-hour Swim, Sauna & Steam experience at the on-site Middlewick Spa.
Named after the mythical Isle of Avalon, which Glastonbury is famously associated with, the Avalon Pass gives guests two hours to slow down and unwind, with access to the indoor heated swimming pool, Shepherd’s Hut sauna, essential-oil-infused steam room and Spa Lounge. Guests can also add treatments or dining to create a more complete spa experience.
The Middlewick Spa also offers a wide range of treatments, including massage, facials, beauty and holistic therapies, delivered from unique converted Shepherd’s Hut treatment rooms nestled within the country setting.
Jill Barker, the owner of Middlewick, said, “The two nominations represent two very important parts of what we do at The Middlewick. Our International Tourism nomination recognises the incredible groups and retreats we welcome from across the world, while the Wellness & Spa nomination celebrates the Avalon Pass and the experiences we’ve created around it.”
The double finalist achievement is a significant milestone for the team and celebrates Middlewick’s continued development as a destination for both international tourism and wellness in the South West.
The winners of the South West Tourism Awards will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place at the end of November.
