Portway Farm Shop, Gloucestershire

The lovely people at Portway Farm Shop know a thing or two about sausages. Having won a Silver Award in a national competition for their very own “Portway” sausages, you can rest assured that the sausages you buy here will be top quality and those in the know keep coming back for more. But sausages aren’t the only thing on offer.

Their in-house, open plan, butchery is at the heart of this tempting farm shop ,with home-reared and local meats including beef, lamb, pork, free-range chicken, duck and even goat, which is considered to be a lovely lean and versatile meat, reportedly lower in fat, calories and cholesterol then many other meats.

Through the glass of the meat counter, you can also spot some mouth-watering BBQ options including sweet chilli chicken skewers, teriyaki chicken skewers and, of course, various flavoured sausages including the “Raging Rio” – pork with chilli, fresh peppers & smoked bacon – for those who like a bit of extra flavour.

The shop also offers a wide range of produce from local suppliers including beautiful home-made pies and quiches, apple juice, cheese, organic milk, home-made preserves, local honey and ice cream. Fresh fruit and vegetables are delivered from a local supplier and there is also a weekly visit from the Fine Fish Company who set up their wares outside the shop.

And if all that shopping makes you peckish, then you can pop upstairs to the perfect little resting place. The cosy “Loft Coffee Shop” is on the mezzanine floor above the farm shop and offers delicious looking cakes and coffee, sandwiches and rolls. It’s all waiting for you in Upton St Leonards!
