The White Hart Hotel have just had one of their busiest weeks since lockdown hit the industry hard, and it’s since lockdown that the hotel has really taken off. The hotel situated in the Somerset village of Martock has seen a rise in sales for food, drink and also rooms. This is part down to the ever changing feel to the pub. Lockdown was a very hard situation for all of hospitality and it was easy to become stuck in the old ways of before. The speed of adapting the menus , drinks and keeping the prices at a level ground have really kept the White Hart Hotel ahead of the game.
The hotels chefs run an ever changing menu that keeps up with current seasons and trends , all while being local, sustainable and cost effective. The menu has a great selection from your top “a la carte” dishes while also featuring a bistro section to cater for every customer that goes through the door. All the menu’s contains wonderful dishes with an English and French theme and are attached to a very elegant Wine menu to top it off.
The owners Peter and Isabelle Halkyard spent nearly all of lockdown decorating and bringing new life to not only the bar area but also both restaurants and the 10 rooms upstairs. They host theme nights every so often including the very popular Beaujolais nouveau, this event is so popular partly due to the landlady Isabelle being French that it’s always fully booked 6/7 months in advance. It’s a fun filled evening full of live French music , food and drink.
There’s a real community spirit in and around the hotel with it being a popular destination for people in Martock and also further afar. Every staff member bar one actually live in Martock too adding to the spirit of the team and village.
The business has stayed open 7 days a week since the owners bought the place 20 years ago. They have recently had to employ new staff and both restaurants are usually fully booked Friday , Saturday and Sunday.
