Embrace the thrill of nature’s fury with the Storm-Watching Experience at The Headland

As summer days become a distant memory and autumn gives way to winter, the Cornish coastline comes into its own. The rugged, northern perimeter of the peninsula is terrifically treacherous in places and has seen many sailing ships succumb through the ages. With seasonal gales encouraging spring tides to chew away at the cliffs and coves, witnessing Mother Nature in all her fierce glory is one of the most exhilarating experiences the county has to offer. There is no hiding place from the South Western Approaches and Cornwall is routinely battered by the winter winds – it is truly a sight to behold.

So why not treat yourself to one of the best seats in the house and enjoy the wilds of the west in five-star luxury?

With spray from the ocean speckling its windows, The Headland in Newquay often sits under brooding grey skies, to a soundtrack of crashing waves. There really is no better place to experience Cornwall in winter than from the hotel’s majestic clifftop location, overlooking Fistral Beach. As part of its Storm Watching package, it offers three nights’ accommodation in a beautifully appointed room or cottage, with daily breakfast.

Guests can hunker down and enjoy generous contributions towards dinner in the stunning new Restaurant RenMor, with its panoramic ocean view windows making for the best spot to sit and observe the storms. Step out into the wild and be surrounded by the elements as winter winds and sea spray fill the Cornish air.

Retire into the warmth of the relaxing in the multi-million pound, six-pool Aqua Club, or lap up the luxury of the Thermal Journey experience followed by a Signature Spa Treatment per adult. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the heated outdoor vitality pool or float in the spa, whilst drinking in the wonder of the stormy Atlantic Ocean. Once you have had your fix of all things aquatic, retire to a sofa in front of the open fire and savour a full afternoon tea.

The Storm Watching package is a three-night stay which includes £40 per adult towards dinner in Restaurant RenMor on the first night. It also includes one full afternoon tea for two and a Signature Spa Treatment per adult.
