In a move to support the hospitality sector, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has announced a freeze on alcohol duty until 2024. This decision effectively reduces the duty cost of an average pint of beer by 3p, resulting in savings for pubs and the broader alcohol industry.
Chancellor Hunt confirmed, “This means there will be no increase in duty on beer, cider, wine, or spirits.” The freeze, which applies until 1 August 2024, is part of a broader package of 110 initiatives aimed at stimulating economic growth.
