Bath-based Canned Wine Co wins major award

Canned Wine Co. wins Premium Drinks Business of the Year at the Positive Luxury Awards 2024. Canned Wine Co. was awarded the title for demonstrating “quantifiable responsibility and impact in material environmental and social areas”.

The award is a reflection of the company’s dedication to responsible sourcing, encouraging better environmental and social sustainability practices, and pushing the boundaries of what premium wine means. Also shortlisted for the awards were: Clase Azul, JAS Hennessy & Co and The Glenturret.

This comes just weeks after Canned Wine Co. achieved Positive Luxury’s coveted Butterfly Mark, which is only awarded to the luxury brands meeting the highest standards when it comes to caring for people and nature. To be considered for the Mark, Positive Luxury undertakes a comprehensive assessment of the company, based on the foundation of international agreements, global frameworks and standards, and potential upcoming legislation. The premium drinks brand Canned Wine Co., which launched to critical acclaim in 2020 with a unique range of wines from top European winemakers like Markus Huber and Norrel Robertson MW, achieved an overall rating of ‘70 – Good’, 40% above the certification standard. It excelled in its scores for Governance and Innovation.

Julien Lonneux, the CEO of Vranken-Pommery UK who was part of the judging panel commented: “I was very impressed by the strategy and 360° vision on sustainability Canned Wine Co. presented us. They have really embraced sustainability as their main company pillar and are offering ideas and effective solutions to improve both their footprint and that of the drinks industry. They are a driving force other businesses should look at as an example.”

Simon Rollings, CEO of Canned Wine Co. said: “As a small and ambitious wine business we have been pushing the boundaries of what premium wine means and we are absolutely delighted to see this recognised! It has been an honour to be nominated amongst some incredibly inspiring and global drinks brands who are real changemakers! This award reflects the work we are doing in responsible sourcing, and encouraging better environmental and social sustainability. We’re grateful for the recognition of the work we’re doing to revolutionise the wine industry and to reduce its impact on the planet. Having received our Butterfly Mark last month, winning the Positive Luxury Premium Drinks Brand of the year award is a fantastic endorsement, and a reflection of the whole team’s dedication to elevating thoughtful connection between people, planet, and place, through wine. We’ll definitely be celebrating by sipping and savouring some great wine!”
