No More Lids’ Good Cup continues to make waves as a sustainable choice

With many businesses, both big and small, striving to be more sustainable, Liskeard based No More Lids is offering a genuine eco alternative to the cup and lid! The award winning The Good Cup has a unique integrated folding lid, meaning no more of those pesky lids splitting or popping off on your drink and ruining your day!

The good cup is 100% compostable, not only industrially but domestically too plus it can simply be recycled as paper meaning no more expensive or specialist collections. Even if the cup ends up in landfill, or as is sadly often the case, is discarded in nature – the Good Cup will be gone without a trace or negative impact on the environment in under 6 months.

Here in the South West we face a double edged sword every year with the huge influx of tourists. They sustain our economy and give a revenue boost to many businesses. With that comes a dramatic increase in litter and general waste, with over 6.8 million items of that being coffee cups and lids across the season. Thankfully some of the main players of the South West have already made the switch to the Good Cup and are seeing incredible results in single use plastic reduction.

Down on the Lizard, the ever popular Kynance Cove Cafe, suffers first hand from plastic waste on the coast line and made the switch right away. “The Good Cup is helping us at Kynance Cove Cafe to become completely plastic free. We feel very strongly about the environment, recycling and the amount of plastic waste left on the beach every year. The Good Cup has helped to cut that plastic waste considerably. We have had really positive feedback about the Good Cup and really hope that more businesses will make the change.” said owner Victoria Donovan. Kynance cove has removed over half a tonne of single use plastic from the South West!

Another popular attraction, Adrenalin Quarry, also made the switch and took a huge step forward to their ongoing mission for the site to be plastic free. No More Lids created a striking black and yellow design for Adrenalin and are proud to say the quarry has removed over 465kg of single use plastic compared to their previous cups.

No More Lids have worked hard to ensure the cup is accessible to everyone, without the usual sustainable price hike suffered by a lot of eco products. They have worked with some key brands within the area, acting as resellers for the cup including Swift Catering Supplies and Owens Coffee and are very pleased to welcome one of the South West’s most recognised brands, Cornish Tea and Coffee to that list.

Cornish Tea’s Jess Rudd said “We are thrilled to launch the Good Cup, to our valued customers, and to take on the role of South West Distributors. The Good Cup is a great drinking cup designed with both quality and sustainability in mind. Its innovative design and durable materials make it a superior choice for everyday use. We believe that The Good Cup will significantly contribute to our sustainability initiatives by reducing single-use plastic consumption. We eagerly anticipate the positive impact this innovative product will have on our environmental footprint and our community’s commitment to a greener future.” The incredible thing is based on the number of cups used last year, the addition of The Good Cup to Cornish Tea and Coffee will remove an amazing 3.05 tonnes of single use plastic from the South West every single year.

No More Lids MD Chris Robinson-Brown said: “We are working hard to spread the word to the rest of UK and have some exciting trials and roll outs planned with some big national names you will know and love, it really warms my heart to know that we are leading by example here in the South West.”
