The Michelin Guide has today announced the addition of The Tartan Fox, Chef Adam Handling MBE’s Cornish pub, to the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland. The Tartan Fox is Adam’s latest opening in Cornwall, following its launch in June this year.
The Tartan Fox, located in the idyllic countryside between Newquay and Truro, is Adam’s second venture in Cornwall, joining his restaurant and bar Ugly Butterfly in nearby St. Ives (also featured in the Michelin Guide). The Tartan Fox marks Adam’s second pub opening, following the launch of award-winning The Loch & the Tyne in Old Windsor in 2021, which was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand earlier this year.
Says Adam Handling MBE: “I’m super honoured that The Tartan Fox has been included in the Michelin Guide, especially having only been open for just under five months. Even more so, I’m really proud that it’s somewhere in Cornwall. It’s the most incredible place, there are so many amazing restaurants and venues in Cornwall and I’m very proud to be a part of it.”
Located in a 400-year-old Grade II listed building that sits on 30 acres of land, The Tartan Fox embodies Adam’s approach to zero-waste, modern British food, underpinned by the philosophy of ‘Sustainable, local luxury’. All produce used at the pub is locally sourced from in and around Cornwall, to create the likes of ‘Haggis Scotch egg, our brown sauce’, ‘Crab cocktail, yellow curry’, ‘Hake, beans, chicken butter sauce’, and ‘Chicken schnitzel, girolles, truffle emulsion’. The menu also features elevated versions of much-loved pub classics, such as ‘Fish & chips, mushy peas, curry & tartare sauce’ and ‘Smashed beef burger, Cornish gouda, truffle mayo, fries’.
