Voyager Coffee introduces new single origin Kenyan Coffee: Kamundu

Voyager Coffee, known for sourcing from sustainable farms and hand roasting every batch on the edge of Dartmoor, has introduced a new single origin Kenyan coffee, Kamundu. Offering notes of juicy currants and dark chocolate, Kamundu is a perfect choice for a sweet and syrupy filter or a vibrant, juicy espresso and promises a distinctive Kenyan profile that’s bright, full-bodied and memorable.

Sourced from the Kamundu Estate in the heart of Kiambu, located just outside Nairobi – a region with deep roots in Kenya’s coffee history. Established in the early 20th century and now owned by Kenyan company Sasini, Kamundu is one of six estates committed to community support and equitable practices. Sasini helps to provide its workers with quality housing, early child education, union representation and above-standard wages.

Through partnerships, they also invest in local education, funding projects like the recent computer lab at Njenga Karume Primary School to enhance digital learning for the community.

Grown at 1,950 meters, the cherries at Kamundu Estate are handpicked and naturally dried on raised beds for up to six weeks — a rarity in Kenya, where fully washed processing dominates. The high altitude, iron-rich volcanic soils, and cooler night-time temperatures in Kiambu allow the cherries to mature slowly, enhancing their acidity and complexity.

Emma Davis, Managing Director of Voyager Coffee, says: “We’re proud to offer a rotating selection of seasonal coffees, sourced in small quantities to bring you an ever-changing line-up of exceptional brews. Kamundu is our latest seasonal single origin which really showcases this and is a new favourite of mine.”

Voyager’s Kamundu is now available to purchase online at voyagercoffee.co.uk, in three sizes, with options for whole beans or ground coffee suitable for a variety of brewing methods, including filter, stovetop, domestic espresso, cafetiere and AeroPress.

This seasonal release is also available to trade, particularly for those who would like to feature a single-origin guest coffee and offer their customers something unique and different to their standard coffee offering.
