The Gannet, St Ives reopens with new Spring menu after £250k kitchen refurbishment

The restaurant at this boutique hotel closed in January for a six-week period to allow for a new kitchen installation, reconfiguration and refurbishment. The new kitchen designed and installed by Nelson Bespoke Commercial Kitchens, includes a custom-made cook suite complete with induction and robata grill. The design incorporates a large open pass allowing diners to experience the chefs at work.

Introducing a robata grill and added facilities has enabled Carbis Bay’s Executive Chef, Andrew Houghton, to extend the new menu, incorporating more varied and exciting dishes. Houghton said, “The Gannet has always been a place to come and relax with friends and family for a classically British hearty menu. We have created a new menu that takes advantage of the incredible fresh produce on our doorstep, keeping many of the favourites on the menu alongside some new flavoursome dishes, all with a Gannet twist. There is something for all tastes and we are excited to introduce new additions for our guests to enjoy.”

The updated menu includes crab profiteroles, a classic Gannet prawn cocktail and the popular chicken teriyaki. For mains, guests can enjoy cider-battered hake and triple-cooked chips, fillet of white fish and pork belly porchetta alongside a wide array of popular dishes including the well-loved curries and steaks. Vegetarian dishes focus on utilising the vegetables that are in season and the fish dishes vary depending on the day’s catch. The new menu includes freshly made sandwiches over lunchtime for a lighter option.

For those with a sweet tooth, the pudding menu has classics including sticky toffee pudding, banana split, Black Forest trifle, and a chocolate lava cake. The Gannet also welcomes younger diners with their ‘Little Gannets’ menu, full of family favourites.

The Gannet has 16 luxurious rooms and is just a short walk from the golden sands of the Collections’ own Carbis Bay Blue Flag Beach. With distant views of the bay and just a short walk down to the Estate and beach, the Gannet Inn is the ideal destination for a coastal break in beautiful surroundings, with wonderful dining.

Guests are welcome to use the facilities at the Gannet’s sister hotel, Carbis Bay Estate, which includes C Bay Spa with coastal-inspired treatments from Bamford and Voya. Guests staying at the Gannet have complimentary use of the spa facilities which include a heated year-round outdoor infinity swimming pool, sauna cabin and hydro pool. along with a yoga room and fitness suite.

For those looking for different dining experiences, tables are available at Walter’s on the Beach, The Beach Club, The Orangery and Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling.

Houghton continued “We are so excited and delighted to welcome guests old and new back to the Gannet and to cook our new menu for them in our incredible kitchen.”
