New chapter begins for much-loved Looe pub as Bullers Arms reopens

There’s good news for pub-goers and music lovers in Looe, as the Bullers Arms has officially reopened under new ownership, with plans to continue the venue’s long-standing reputation for community, live music and great beer.

The Bullers Arms, a much-loved town centre pub, had been run by well-known local landlady Pauline Faulkner for over 20 years until her passing in September 2024. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to live music, the pub was a central part of the town’s social scene.

Following Pauline’s death, her family were determined to see the pub’s legacy continue and instructed commercial property consultants Vickery Holman to find the right new custodians. The response was strong, with considerable interest in the opportunity.

Vickery Holman are pleased to confirm that the Bullers Arms has now been taken on by a local businessman who had known the pub, and Pauline, for many years. The new operator intends to honour the character of the Bullers by maintaining its inclusive and lively atmosphere, with a few subtle updates to improve the facilities.

The pub’s reopening was marked with celebrations last Friday, and early signs suggest the local community has welcomed its return with open arms.

A family member of Pauline commented: “We all knew how much Pauline loved the Bullers and her customers. While we had a few options, as a family we are delighted to have gone with the new custodians – they totally understood and supported what the Bullers is all about. We look forward to seeing them thrive, and for the live music and community spirit to live on in Pauline’s memory.”

Vickery Holman report increasing levels of activity in the hospitality property market across the South West, despite the ongoing cost pressures in the sector.

“It’s always particularly rewarding to help secure the future of a much-loved local business like the Bullers Arms,” said Michael Easton of Vickery Holman. “There was strong interest in this property, and we’re delighted to have helped Pauline’s family find someone who understands and values its place in the community.”
