Following the phenomenal success of its 9-hole disc golf course, Cricklade Hotel & Spa has further developed its disc golf experience to now accommodate 18 par-fect holes – making it the first of its kind in North Wiltshire!
As only the third 18-hole disc golf course in Wiltshire, this exciting course development was prompted by prominent disc golfers, Adam Barlow and Jamie Matthews, approaching Neil Parry, General Manager at Cricklade Hotel & Spa, to see if they could utilise the hotel’s extensive grounds and enhance the site’s leisure offering even more. Given the popularity of the existing course, it seemed a logical next step, as Neil explains:
“Disc Golf is one of the UK’s growing sports and the fastest growing sport globally. We’re delighted to now be home to one of only very few 18-hole disc golf courses in the country! With our 33-acre estate, Cricklade Hotel & Spa is the ideal location for a course of this nature – one which meanders its way around our beautiful grounds, letting players take in our spectacular outdoor space. Investing in its development from 9 to 18 holes was something we were eager to commit to. Suitable for all ages and abilities, and course options from beginners to pros, this super game is brilliant fun. Like golf, players navigate the 18-hole course, throwing frisbee style discs from a tee at a fixed target (basket). The player with the lowest number of total throws wins the hole. The courseis open to all and is a great place for groups looking to meet and try something new – and an ideal way to keep children outside and entertained!”
Professional disc golfers, Adam Barlow and Jamie Matthews, who funded the baskets and helped re-design the course to accommodate 18 holes, explain what it means to have the facility available at Cricklade Hotel & Spa:
