Diary Date: Cornwall’s first sustainability event series for the hospitality sector

Roots: Planet is a brand‑new sustainability event designed for hospitality businesses of every size in Cornwall – from start‑ups and independents to large hotels and visitor attractions. Delivered by Cornwall Hospitality Collective (CHC) – a not‑for‑profit organisation that unites hospitality businesses, educators, suppliers and communities across Cornwall to raise standards and strengthen the sector – this sector‑wide Earth Day gathering is the first of its kind.

Businesses are invited to learn side‑by‑side, share challenges, exchange practical insights and hear directly from some of Cornwall’s leading sustainability voices and changemakers through workshops, presentations and round‑tables as well as the opportunity to network and explore stands from some of Cornwall’s leading food, drink and sustainability brands, showcasing innovative, planet‑positive solutions and products already being championed across the county.

When: 🌎 Earth Day – 22nd April 2026.

Speakers include:

  • Bethany Branigan, Sustainability Lead at The Headland Hotel – winner of the Cateys Sustainable Hotel of the Year 2025 and the Cornwall Tourism Awards’ Most Sustainable Large Organisation in Cornwall 2025.
  • Jamie Garfield, owner of Tom Thumb, renowned for its sustainability ethos and crowned Most Sustainable Bar in the UK in Franklin & Sons’ Top 50 Cocktail Bars 2026.
  • Emily Coon, St Austell Brewery’s award‑winning Sustainability Manager – fresh from TEDx Porthtowan Women and named an edie 30 Under 30 sustainability leader.
  • Helen Bishop, Group Head of Engagement and Sustainability at multi-award-winning Watergate Bay Hotel including 2025 Winner of Winners at Cornwall Tourism Awards.

No matter where a business sits on its sustainability journey, Roots: Planet will offer practical, accessible learning, networking and collaboration to help hospitality operators support both the planet and the bottom line.

The event is delivered by Cornwall Hospitality Collective in collaboration with Watergate Bay Hotel, The Headland Hotel and Zero Carbon Company. It is sponsored by OH4 and Cornish Tea & Coffee, with additional support from St Austell Brewery, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Truro and Penwith College.
