Family-owned Windmill Retreat in rural Somerset is gearing up for one of its busiest times of the year having invested more than £1m in luxury accommodation to complement its popular Elements Boutique Spa.
As featured in The Times, Windmill Retreat Lodges, Spa and Estate in Middlezoy, has added five adult-only luxury suites to the site in response to customers’ requests and in time for Spring breaks and Mother’s Day.

According to marketing and events manager, Joanna Murphy, the business has listened to its customers who were saying they would like to be able to stay overnight when enjoying treatments at the spa which has been running for eight years.
“We have family-friendly, self-catering lodges here where people can have a minimum three-night stay, but we were noticing high demand for one or two nights to take full advantage of the relaxation offered by the spa. We pride ourselves in our customer care, so we listened and in response have built the Elements Suites,” said Joanna.

Since the Ridgment family opened Windmill Retreat in 2015 they have increased the team to 43 and brought significant trade to local businesses through their preference for using Somerset ingredients and products wherever they can. Examples are the florist Bramble and Wild and Pyne’s Butchers who supplies its meat to the Levels Country Kitchen Café.
The brand-new Elements Suites have exclusive access to a secluded garden with a hot tub, barrel sauna and cold-water shower. Inside they have glass ceiling panels for watching the stars and balconies for soaking up the Somerset sunsets.
“We know we will be especially busy in Spring as we welcome a new season and lots of opportunities to celebrate. It’s the perfect time to focus on self-care and renewal,” said Joanna. “The Avänto Spa Garden will be looking lovely as the herbs come into flower and just as nature is blooming, so our customers will be after a rejuvenating stay with us.”
