The Whitmore Tap in Clifton, managed by Butcombe Pubs & Inns, is raising a glass after securing a major win at the 2026 National Pub & Bar Awards.
The National Pub & Bar Awards, which returned to London on Wednesday, 10th June for its 10th anniversary, recognises the very best venues across the UK. A total of 94 pubs and bars were named County Winners, selected from more than 250 Highly Commended venues invited to the Grand Final at the Penny Social, hosted by Mark Durden-Smith.
Jason Perfect, COO of Butcombe Group, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that The Whitmore Tap has scooped Best Pub in Bristol. These awards are seriously competitive, so to come out on top after such a rigorous judging process is a huge testament to the outstanding hospitality Molly and her team deliver every single day. They consistently go the extra mile to give our guests the very best experience.”
Judges praised The Whitmore Tap for demonstrating excellence across every stage of the guest journey – from design and service to food and drink quality, marketing, and ongoing investment.
Tristan O’Hana, Pub & Bar Awards says: “Being selected as a County Nominee is impressive enough, as it means you’re right up there with the best in the area. But to be named a County Winner is huge. The Whitmore Tap is a brilliant example of both independent charm and impressive group operations from the Butcombe team. A huge well done to all involved.”
All County Winners came together in London to discover the 2026 Regional Winners, the overall Pub & Bar of the Year, and the winner of the Tyrrells Tyrrellbly Good Taste Award.
Butcombe’s Welldiggers Arms in Petworth, West Sussex also won awards – being named Best Pub in West Sussex and winning the coveted Tyrrells Tyrrellbly Good Taste Award.
