Graze Tapas ~ Wine, the family-run small-plates and wine bar at 2 Beacon Road, Newquay, is seeing increased demand this summer following the announcement of its three-strong kitchen team for the season.

Head chef James Hunt, who has led the Graze kitchen since it opened, is joined by Hicham Cutillas (“Nanno”), from Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and St Petroc’s Bistro, and by summer guest chef Carissa Young, over from London for the season.

Carissa’s CV includes Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall, Angela Hartnett’s Murano in London (1 star), Tom Sellers’ Restaurant Story in London (2 stars), Nicolai Ellitsgaard’s UNDER in Norway (1 star), Paul Ainsworth’s No.6 Padstow (1 star) and Elis London, sister restaurant to Rafael Cagali’s Da Terra.
Together, the team is putting out fresh small plates daily throughout the season, and bookings have picked up noticeably since the line-up was announced.
The season’s momentum comes as Graze enters its fourth year of trading, bucking a wider trend of decline seen across much of the hospitality sector. Owned by Wendy Randall, with Steve Randall leading the kitchen team and overseeing the menu, Graze has built its reputation through word of mouth, drawing a loyal local following alongside visitors year-round.

Behind that growth is a simple approach: keep investing, keep improving. In recent seasons Graze has introduced an ever-evolving menu with seasonal small plates, specials and a new weekend lunch offer, a new drinks and pintxos offer for those wanting something lighter or a pre-dinner bite, up to 30 wines now available by the glass, an upgraded covered and heated terrace extending outdoor dining across more of the year, more tables, and extended opening hours.
For owners Wendy and Steve Randall, it’s this steady evolution, driven by a genuine passion for food, wine, and hospitality, that they credit for Graze’s place as Newquay’s most-loved tapas bar.
Graze sits at the Red Lion end of Fore Street, an area of Newquay that has seen a run of new energy recently, with new ownership at Fins, Hyorcaus, The Larder and, most recently, The Red Lion. Through all of it, Graze has been the constant; open and trading in the same spot for four years running.
