A Bristol-based business has saved charities more than £10,000 annually by providing its services completely free of charge.
Leafe App, a hospitality technology firm which allows users to record all their food hygiene and compliance records digitally, offers its service for free to all charities and non-profits.
The app is a subscription service, with its team also offering bespoke support and guidance to everyone who uses the app as part of the package. The standard package costs £68 per month and the pro subscription costs £119 per month, which means each charity making use of the service saves around £1000 in costs every year. Leafe has so far given a free subscription to 12 charities – including the Fresh Start Café in Preston, Walton Youth and Community Project and the Food for Thought CIC which provides food-related training courses – meaning that in total it is saving non-profit organisations a whopping £13,284 per year.
The app can save as much as 40hrs of admin per week, allows chefs to run their kitchens 70% faster, and helps to save 75% of avoidable food waste – saving the charities even more on costs in the long run.

The Fresh Start Café in Preston – part of the Onward Lives Centre which helps rehabilitate past offenders – has hailed the app as an “essential” part of its operations. The app has already saved the charity more than £1,000 in annual fees. A Fresh Start Café spokesperson said: “The Leafe digital compliance app has become an essential part of how we operate day to day. Leafe has transformed how we manage temperature monitoring, cleaning schedules, safety checks, record keeping and compliance documentation. The app provides clarity and accountability. Checklists are easy to follow, records are accurate, and audits are far less daunting. This has reduced paperwork, saved time and significantly improved consistency across our operations.
“The impact of Leafe has been instrumental in strengthening our systems, supporting our teams and maintaining the high standards we expect as a charity working in food and hospitality. We’re very much looking forward to continuing our relationship with the Leafe team as we move into 2026 and beyond.”
Samuel Chapman, CEO of Leafe App, said: “It has always been a part of our core values as a business to help people wherever possible and offering our services to charities for free seemed like a great way to give back to the communities and organisations most in need. The Fresh Start Café is a prime example of the kind of community enterprise that can really benefit from Leafe, and as a result provide even more to the communities it supports – reducing reoffending, tackling food waste and poverty, and supporting people out of homelessness and into employment.
“I am glad to receive such positive feedback from our charity partners, and we look forward to working with them long into the future to keep their kitchens operating smoothly.”
