BANK Bristol announces Friends + Fire guest chef series

Totterdown-based neighbourhood restaurant, BANK has announced details of its upcoming ‘Friends + Fire’ guest chef series, with three special events set to take place throughout September and October.

The series will see head chef, Jack Briggs-Horan cooking over fire alongside some of the most exciting chefs in the UK, with British-Iranian TV chef and bestselling author, Sabrina Ghayour bringing her acclaimed Sabrina’s Kitchen Supperclub to Bristol on 10 September, followed by a guest night with award-winning food writer, teacher and advocate for real cooking, Gill Meller on 1 October. The series will end with a BANK x Our Table event on 23 October, with MasterChef: The Professionals finalist, Kasae Fraser and partner Vincent Gatay joining Jack in the kitchen.

Kicking off the series, Sabrina’s Kitchen Supperclub will offer up a three course sharing menu, taking inspiration from her bestselling cookbooks as well as BANK’s eclectic wood fired cooking. Menu highlights include Chicken Wings Two Ways; White Bean, Feta & Cumin Dip with Herbs & Flatbreads; Smoked Aubergine Salad with Pickled Chillies & Feta; Lamb Shish Kababs with Roasted Onions & Tomatoes; and Slow Cooked Saffron Chicken, Carrot & Preserved Lemon Stew, with Toasted Almonds & Golden Raisins.

Dorset-based Gill Meller will be presenting a menu that takes inspiration from his surroundings, including the landscape, the seasons and the community of farmers, growers and fisherman that live and work around him. The three course feast will include sharing plates such as Wood Roast Venison, Braised Shoulder with Smoked Bacon, Celeriac & Potato Mash; Clams with Butter, Chanterelles & Chives; and Last of the Tomatoes Grilled on the Fire, White Beans with Rosemary, Garlic & Thyme, & Grilled Toasts.

The BANK x Our Table event will celebrate the diversity of Australian food & drink, combining Jack’s contemporary fire cooking ethos with the ‘fun dining’ approach employed by Kasae and Vincent at their private dining and supper club events. During this all-Bristol collab, the menu will feature Celeriac, Satay, Goat’s Curd, Tropical Hot Sauce; Prawn Cocktail Choux Farci, Marie Rose Hollandaise; BBQ Venison, Macadamia Ajo Blanco, Espresso Ponzu; and ‘Lamington-Esque’, a Coconut Mousse, Passion Fruit & Lemon Myrtle Jam, Génoise, BBQ Pineapple & Szechuan Sorbet.

As ever, everything that comes over the pass at BANK will take influence from the wood fired grill, with flames, smoke and intense heat all playing their parts during the ‘Friends + Fire’ series. While enjoying these one-off menus, guests will hear from Sabrina, Gill, Kasae and Vincent as they introduce each course, while also having a the opportunity to meet the guest chefs and the BANK team during the night.

Dan O’Regan, owner and founder of BANK, commented: “We’re super excited to be bringing these amazing chefs to BANK; treating our diners to something special while taking our eclectic fire cooking to new places. Working from Persian feasts through to dishes that celebrate the South Coast’s landscape, producers and seasons, the series will be a journey for us all. We can’t wait to get the fires lit.”

Tickets will go on sale at www.bankbristol.com from Wednesday 11 September, where full menu details can also be found.
BANK in Bristol is open from 17:00 – 22:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 12:00 – 22:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 12:00 – 17:00 on Sundays. Diners can book via their website.
